TIPS Across Warwickshire for a Successful Recycling Experience

The warmer weather is upon us, and as we enjoy the longer days and evenings, Warwickshire County Council is gearing up to provide more flexibility for residents to recycle their waste efficiently. The household waste recycling centres are set to open for longer hours over the summer, making it easier for people to drop off their recyclable materials.

With the Easter break approaching, residents can take advantage of extended opening hours at the recycling centres, including:

  • Later-evening opening on Wednesdays until 6pm (excluding Stockton, Shipston, and Wellesbourne)
  • All recycling centres (excluding Shipston) opening until 5.30pm over the weekend
  • Extended opening hours on Saturday, April 19, and Easter Sunday, April 20, for all recycling centres (excluding Shipston)
  • Special exception: Cherry Orchard in Kenilworth, Shipston, and Wellesbourne will be closed on Good Friday, April 18, and Easter Monday, April 21, due to planning permission restrictions

It is essential to prepare your vehicle for a smooth recycling experience by pre-sorting your waste before packing your car. This not only helps the staff at the recycling centre but also ensures that you make the most of your visit.

Recycling Centre Extended Hours
Cherry Orchard Closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday
Shipston Closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday
Wellesbourne Open until 6pm on Wednesdays
Other Centres Open until 5:30 pm on weekends

The importance of recycling and reducing waste cannot be overstated. By recycling more, we can make a significant impact on reducing carbon emissions and helping the environment. Andrew Pau, WCC’s head of waste and country parks, highlights this crucial point:

“I would like to thank all our residents in Warwickshire, who continue to reduce waste generated in the home and separate waste for recycling. Recycling all that you can at home is one easy way to cut carbon emissions and help the environment.”

As we move towards our ambitious goal of becoming a net-zero county by 2050, it is essential that we continue to make progress in reusing, recycling, and composting our waste. Warwickshire County Council is proud to have made tremendous progress in this area, but there is still more work to be done.

Booking a 15-minute slot for a car is now required for a smooth recycling experience. Where there is availability, appointments can be made on the day, up to just a few minutes before the appointment. Advance booking is strongly recommended to avoid disappointment and ensure that you get a convenient time slot.

Residents can book their appointments online or by contacting the recycling centre directly. The booking process is easy and efficient, allowing you to choose your preferred time slot and avoid waiting in long queues.

By taking advantage of these extended opening hours and booking in advance, you can make a positive impact on the environment and help Warwickshire County Council achieve its ambitious goals. So, get ready to recycle and make a difference in your community!
